We're on a mission of putting the mod into modern. We’ve rebooted our site with some simple clean, modernist designs in white ink on black 100% cotton T-shirts and Tote bags. Garage made in Oakland, CA. Our Art Prints have made a return and are available in three size formats including large stretched canvases. More products are coming soon.

Modpop Industries is the output of Oakland based art / creative director / dad / designer / artist / somewhat serviceable vintage scooter mechanic / occasional longboard surfer, and SF Bay Area native, Gary Williams. Having been inspired by the style my parents and their generation in their youth, I've been fortunate to grow up in the San Francisco Bay Area where a vibrant community of mods, scooter boys, punks and garage rockers have been showing me how it’s done since my teenage years. 

I designed my pop-art take on the classic RAF roundel with the ink splat in a moment of inspiration in the Academy of Art library in it's old location on Powell Street around 1988. This mark originally appeared for a printed class project—part zine, part portfolio piece, mostly the latter and on my first business card pictured below which I ganged onto my '(d)zine' print run. I’ve been using the ‘splat-roundel’ as my personal mark throughout my career and it has since evolved into the stylized piece of modernist goodness that you see today.
